How to create a CBD routine

You might have heard people talk about a CBD routine. But what is it? And why should you do it? Basically, a CBD routine is scheduling your CBD dosages, rather than taking it when you are in pain or need relief from other symptoms. Having a routine can help maximise the benefits of CBD and reduce any downtime. So here are a few tips for creating your own routine.

Why consistency is key

Taking CBD as and when you need it can be effective for the occasional issue, but creating a daily routine will help you to see the benefits for your overall health and wellbeing. Rather than thinking of CBD as a medication, think of it as a supplement – it takes your body some time to integrate all of the benefits.

CBD works with the body’s natural endocannabinoid system to help regulate functions like sleep, mood, appetite and pain response. When CBD is used regularly, the rebalancing effects on this system are cumulative, even though CBD does not remain in the body. In addition, some of these functions, such as the digestive system, can take weeks to adjust.

What time of day is right for you?

The best time of day to take CBD will vary from person to person. It not only depends on your physical system, but your lifestyle, your diet, and exactly what you want to get from your CBD – whether it’s to treat specific problems or just improve your overall health. Here are some of the reasons that people take their dose at particular times of the day.

You might think of CBD as a way to unwind at the end of the day, but taking it first thing in the morning can be equally beneficial. This will ensure that you have CBD in your system throughout the day, at the time you need to be free from pain and functioning at your best. Try adding CBD oil to your morning coffee or smoothie.

If you like to smoke or vape CBD, this can perhaps be a better time to take a CBD break than first thing in the morning. Likewise, if you happen to suffer from mid-morning brain fog, CBD has been shown to improve focus and concentration to get you through the day. CBD is also a proven stress reliever, helping you to stay calm in the face of any work pressure.

After a workout

A yoga class, a session at the gym or a run is a great way to improve your overall fitness and health, but that doesn’t mean there are no negative side effects. We’ve all suffered from the occasional sore muscles after pushing ourselves too hard. CBD doesn’t just help relieve pain, but it also reduces inflammation – the cause of muscle pain.

Before bed

Evening is the time of day that most people are familiar with taking CBD. For some, the relaxing effects that the cannabinoid can offer are just what’s needed after a long day. For others, taking CBD is part of their bedtime routine. CBD is widely used by people suffering from insomnia to help them get a good night’s sleep. If you’re kept awake by chronic pain, the relief that CBD can bring will also help you sleep well and wake up refreshed.

Tips for your CBD routine

Now that you know a bit about how CBD might help at different times of the day, it’s time to establish your own CBD routine. Of course, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, but we’ve given you a few tips to get started.

Start with a low dose

Even if you are experienced with CBD, if you’ve never scheduled your intake before, it’s best to start with a low dose. As we mentioned above, using CBD at regular intervals will have a cumulative effect on your endocannabinoid system, and you may find that you need less than you think. And if you can get the benefits you need from a small dose, then you’ll be able to make your CBD last longer!

Take smaller, more frequent doses

Rather than taking one larger dose each day, try breaking up your intake into two or even three doses over the course of the day. Depending on what method you use (edibles, vaping, oils), the effects of CBD will last only 6 hours at the very longest. By taking more frequent doses, you can avoid the downtime in benefits.

Track your progress

With our busy lives, it can be hard to keep track of how we’re feeling from day to day. When you start your CBD routine, we recommend keeping a note of exactly what you take and when, and how you feel on that particular day. This will help you see if things are improving after a week or so, or if perhaps you need to increase your dose or change the timing.

Psoriasis and CBD

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), psoriasis affects more than 100 million people worldwide. And if you are one of these people, you’ll know
